Krachie Questionable for Thursday

Posted in Uncategorized by mattmanley on November 12, 2009

Steve Krachie suffered a sprained meniscus in CBA’s 2-1 overtime win over Notre Dame Tuesday and is a game-time decision for Thursday’s sectional final against St. Augustine, according to CBA assistant Jeff Matson.  Krachie returned to Tuesday’s game after sustaining the injury, but the injury is one that usually requires time to heal, which makes Krachie’s status uncertain.

Ramifications you ask? Anyone who has watched CBA this season would probably agree that he is the most important player on the team. They just aren’t the same team when he’s not on the field, as Tuesday’s game showed, as well as a 3-2 win over Howell showed, when the Rebels rallied from a 2-0 deficit while Krachie was getting a cut stitched. CBA’s depth is a strength, but they don’t have anyone to dominate the air and distibute the ball like Krachie does, so they’ll be worse off. But a worse off CBA may still be good enough to move on.

Matson himself has been battling the flu early this week, and the same bug kept sophomore mifielder Chris Thorsheim out of Tuesday’s game. Thorsheim is expected to return, and he’ll be needed with Krachie’s health in question.
