SCT Update: Teams Under .500 can enter tournament
According to Wall Athletic Director and soccer SCT director Tony Vadola, teams with a record of one-game below .500 or better on Monday morning will be allowed to enter the Shore Conference Tournament and the pool of teams that enters will be seeded on Monday night, as previously planned. Any team that fits that criteria must email or submit and entry in writing to Vadola, as is the policy under normal circumstances.
Teams that are .500 Monday morning are already in the tournament regardless of the outcome of their Monday games. The Monday results will still affect seeding, but a loss by a .500 team on Monday won’t eliminate them from contention.
As I said in the previous post, this is based on the presumption that most of this weekend’s games will be postponed or cancelled and any team that won’t get a chance to pull even at .500 will have a chance to play in the tournament (i.e. Howell, which is 6-7 and likely won’t get to play its last A North game against Marlboro by Monday if it keeps raining).
It sounds like the teams under .500 can still be seeded anywhere, so it’ll be up to the seeding committee to decide how to treat them.
That’s all for now. If this story develops any further, I’ll let you know.
